1 / 5Typical questions from bladers
A light Defense Bey that dodges attacks instead of absorbing them with mass. The blade's low weight is also its weakness, and the Metal Needle bit, banned in the WBO tournament format, is best swapped out.
The Shadow Shinobi relies on agility rather than force. It is the successor to the Knife Shinobi 4-80HN. Picture the blade as a round, smooth wheel with three wings, whose contact points are partly plastic and partly metal. It is not shaped like a pointed throwing star; it is built to dodge and parry attacks. The 1-80 ratchet beneath it has an uneven shape: it throws the Bey off balance and makes it wobble in short, quick evasive movements. At the very bottom sits the Metal Needle bit, essentially a Needle bit with a metal tip.
At 37.7 g it is on the light side for a Defense Bey: that makes it nimble, but it lacks the mass that keeps the spin going longer. On the packaging, Hasbro gives the blade a defense value of 70, a high value for a Defense Bey: it stands for a blade that absorbs and deflects hits. BeybladeGeeks are divided on whether its defense pays off in the stadium.
By tournament points, the 1-80 ratchet ranks 14th of 36 ratchets and the Shadow Shinobi blade 51st of 110 blades (as of 1 September 2026). The Metal Needle bit comes in 48th of 49 bits. In the WBO X format it is currently the only banned part; only an optional rule allows it again. So if you play in tournaments, you should swap the bit. BeybladeGeeks were surprised at how well the Shadow Shinobi blade held up against a Cobalt Dragoon's attacks: its parries worked. Even so, in their buying verdict BeybladeGeeks advise against the Shadow Shinobi blade because it is very light and disappoints as a defense blade, and for ilinnuc that low weight is exactly its biggest problem. BeybladeGeeks credit the Metal Needle bit with fairly high stamina thanks to its low-friction metal tip, but warn that it can leave dents in the stadium.
In the Beyblade X anime, the Shadow Shinobi is used by Quinn Manju, including in episode 38, where it parries opposing attacks so skilfully it is as if they never happened. In episode 54 it prevails as a Defense Bey against Cel Kaminari's Obsidian Shell.
The Bey was released on 18 May 2024 in Japan by Takara Tomy, there as Shinobi Shadow in a Random Booster. Hasbro releases it as Shadow Shinobi 1-80MN.
As a Starter Pack it comes with a launcher, so you can get going right away. The Bey belongs to the UX series, the Unique Line of Beyblade X.
Every part of this blade is interchangeable with other UX components. Stats from the Hasbro packaging — performance may vary. Weights approximate.
