Cowl Sphinx 1-80GF and Crest Leon 7-60GN Dual Pack Hasbro G1685

Two contrasting Beys in one dual pack, without a launcher: Crest Leon, a heavy Defense Bey, and Cowl Sphinx, an Attack Bey with a tall ratchet. The best thing in the box is Crest Leon's 7-60 ratchet, one of the most successful ratchets in tournaments. You're best off swapping out Crest Leon's Gear Needle bit.

Description

Two Beys, two play styles: Crest Leon 7-60GN is a Defense Bey that holds its ground, Cowl Sphinx 1-80GF an Attack Bey that relies on speed.

Crest Leon stands out as soon as you hold it: the blade is unusually thick, a massive plastic base sits under the metal, and the weight is placed far out. Below it, the 7-60 ratchet closes things off like a round wall with seven long, rectangular protrusions. At 44.1 g, Crest Leon is on the heavy side for a Defense Bey, which gives it momentum and helps it hold its spin. Its blade has a defense value of 70, also high for its type: it absorbs hits and deflects them to the side. At the very bottom sits the Gear Needle bit, a sharp needle whose gears reach all the way to the tip, so the Bey catches the Xtreme Line more easily.

By tournament points, the 7-60 ratchet ranks 4th of 36 ratchets, the Crest Leon blade 59th of 110 blades and the Gear Needle bit 45th of 49 bits (as of 1 September 2026). ilinnuc calls the 7-60 a great ratchet and the best part of Crest Leon. But BeybladeGeeks and ilinnuc also judge the Crest Leon blade mostly positively. For the Gear Needle bit, BeybladeGeeks recommend a swap, because an Xtreme Dash is not what a Defense Bey needs. If you have a Hexa bit, try it here: on it, Crest Leon spun very stably for BeyCorner and held out well.

In the Beyblade X anime, Crest Leon is used by Khrome Ryugu and Titus Manju, among others. In episode 54 it fends off attacks like a fortress and then counters with sharp fangs. In episode 59 it sends two opponents flying at once with a massive Xtreme Dash, Rudder Phoenix and Saber Samurai.

Cowl Sphinx is built completely differently. Its blade is round with small, jagged edges, actually a typical Defense design. It is the Gear Flat bit that makes it an Attack Bey: its gears reach right up to the flat tip, so it finds the Xtreme Line more easily and moves very aggressively. The 1-80 ratchet is unevenly shaped and throws the Bey off balance: it wobbles and dodges with short, quick movements. With a height of 80, the ratchet sits tall for an Attack Bey, and the higher centre of gravity makes for agile, aggressive play. On paper the blade brings a defense value of 55, a lot for an Attack Bey: a value like that stands for a blade that absorbs and deflects hits better.

By tournament points, the 1-80 ratchet ranks 14th of 36 ratchets, the Cowl Sphinx blade 83rd of 110 blades and the Gear Flat bit 39th of 49 bits (as of 1 September 2026). The testers don't warm to the Cowl Sphinx blade: the verdict from BeybladeGeeks and ilinnuc is mostly negative. ilinnuc finds the Cowl Sphinx blade light and small, and its shape of little use for a solid Defense type. In June 2025 BeybladeGeeks still found Cowl Sphinx worth picking up if it's in the store, but in September 2025 they advise against spending money on it. BeybladeGeeks call the Gear Flat bit fairly aggressive, but not a fan favourite.

Hasbro released the Cowl Sphinx and Crest Leon Dual Pack in Australia in May 2025, followed by Canada and the USA in May and June 2025. At Takara Tomy, both Beys came out in Japan as early as 10 August 2024: Leon Crest 7-60GN as a booster, Sphinx Cowl 1-80GF in the Phoenix Rudder Deck Set.

The box contains only the two Beys; you need a launcher separately. Both belong to the UX line. When you recombine blade, ratchet and bit, you change how a Bey moves.
