Description

Cobalt Dragoon is a left-spin attack bey, the counterpart to Cobalt Drake 4-60F. Left-spin beys are rare in Beyblade X, and that is exactly where its value comes from: it equalises its opponents' spin and can therefore counter very different beys. Picture the blade as a square with four heavy wings: they are its contact points, and it uses them to land left-spin upper attacks. The gear chip shows the Azure Dragon Seiryu in profile, and the name refers to Dragoon from Bakuten Shoot Beyblade.

At 46.1 g it is fairly heavy for an attack bey, and the weight gives its hits momentum and helps it hold its spin. The 2-60 ratchet, on the other hand, grips with only two chunky prongs, fewer than is usual for attack beys, and the fewer contact points a ratchet has, the less firmly it holds.

By tournament points, the Cobalt Dragoon blade ranks 4th of 110 blades (as of 1 September 2026). BeybladeGeeks put Cobalt Dragoon at number 2 of their five most important attack beys: not the best pure attacker, but seen constantly at tournaments. ilinnuc sees it similarly: Cobalt Dragoon's wings are fairly flat, so it doesn't hit as hard as an upward-angled attacker and earns its place in the meta mainly as a spin equaliser. In okuyama3093's ranking (S to D) the Cobalt Dragoon blade gets an S, and at bey_bee an SS, the second-highest of six tiers. The ratchet and bit are where you can fine-tune it: the 2-60 ratchet ranks 32nd of 36 ratchets, the Cyclone bit 30th of 49 bits. ilinnuc calls the 2-60 ratchet simply bad: its huge blocks practically beg to be knocked apart. ilinnuc rates the Cyclone bit as okay, but it runs short of stamina towards the end. As the most proven and most popular combination, ilinnuc names Cobalt Dragoon 5-60 Elevate: if you own a 5-60 ratchet and an Elevate bit, you should try both on it.

In the Beyblade X anime, Khrome Ryugu brings the new Cobalt Dragoon into play in episode 49. In episode 50, the bey, without any battle experience, goes up against Jackson's Buster Dran in a duel, a bey Jackson has already used in many battles.

The bey was released on 13 July 2024 in Japan as a Takara Tomy starter. Hasbro brings it out as Cobalt Dragoon 2-60C in the Cobalt Dragoon Deluxe Left-Spin String Launcher Set, in the EU since 1 February 2025.

The box contains a string launcher for left-spin beys, not the usual ripcord launcher: you pull a string instead of a rack. Which launcher type feels better in your hand is a matter of taste. It belongs to the BX series, the Basic Line of Beyblade X, and is legal for WBO tournaments.
